Swimming - Mysore Scene

Swimming is a very attractive and physical sport which is popular in the world sporting scene. Karnataka's contribution to the national scene has been consistent . Swimmers like J.Abhijith, S.H.Hakimuddin, Santhosh, Satish Kumar, Meghana Narayan, Nisha Millet, Ashima Shetty, Sangita Rao, Sajini Shetty, Kokila B.J.Shetty, Anupama Louis and Sonia Jose have all done us proud by winning medals in the international level.

Our city also has some excellent swimmers like Ramachandra Gowda, M.R.Abhishek, Skanda, R.Ashwath, Adarsh, Shivkumar in the men's section & in the women's section.

Mysore District's Water-Polo team has been a consistent performer in the state -level Aquatics Meet and many of the Swimmers from Mysore have gone on to represent the state's water-polo team both in the men's and women's section.

In the diving section, M.R.Sukumar was once ranked as one of the top divers in the country and the No.1in the state. He represented the state team in the national diving championship and also represented Mysore in the All-India Inter-University Championship.

In the women's section, H.D.Lakshmi of Hassan representing Mysore University has won the silver medal in High board diving in the All-India Inter-University meet for the last three years (98-99, 99-2000, 2000-01).

Mysore University plays a big part in promoting the sport in the city. It has a well maintained Swimming Pool which is open to public.

Many of the Mysoreans utilize the Mysore University Swimming Pool at Saraswathipuram and benefit from the same.
