Chess is a mind game which has a traditional background.
The game was patronized in our country by the Kings from the
earlier days. This mind sport has improved by leaps and bounds
since the earlier days. The game has become so professional that players in
the present era compete with the computer. Feats of Vishwanathan
Anand (The Current World Champion), Vijaylaksmi, Koneru Humpy,
Harikrishna have made an impact on the game and many youngsters have taken up
to this sport in recent times. |

Mysore has been contributing talented chess players to the state
and national-level from time to time. Players like N.Sanjay
(Current state champion - has won the title five times in a row. ELO rating of 2300), M.S.Tejkumar (ELO rating of 2133), K.Vijaykeerthi
(State U-19 No. 2),
A.Balkishan (State U-7 No.1), H.D.Jagadish, P.R.Rekha (former
State women's champion), P.R.Rashmi (former State U-18 girls
champion), Kavyashree (former State women's champion), M.Kavana
(former State U-18 girls champion) have made their impact in the
National level. |

The Mysore District Chess Association is an active organization,
which is conducting chess tournaments regularly in order to
improve the standard of the Players. |
