Mysore Athletics  - A foot Note
      Mysore has always been a regular contributor to the state's talent in the field of athletics. Athletes like Seetharam (1982 Asian games - Marathon bronze medal winner), S.Somashekar (Silver in 1985 - SAF games - 100m), E.B.Shyla (represented the country in Asian Games 4x100 Relay), Reeth Abraham (represented the country in Asian Games, Silver medal in SAF Games - Long Jump) and Sridevi ( represented the country in circuit meets in relay),Uma Devi (Represented the country in 1982 Asian Games-1500m) have gone to bring laurels by performing well at the highest level.
      In the veteran's section, athletes like N.R.Shankar Rao, H.R.Ramaswamy, Kalabhairava, Vijaylakshmi Singh, Gopal Raj Urs, Pooviah, M.P.Chandrashekar, Nalini, S.Prema Pinto, Lourdhanadhan and Vijaya Ramesh, Dinesh Urs  have won medals in the Asian veteran's athletic meet.
      The Mysore District Amateur Athletic association is working in the earnest prospective to promote the Sport by conducting different age level meets in the district in order to tap fresh talents.
