Athletes - National Representation


1. Seetharam: An employee with the Southern Railways in Mysore, Seetharam did everyone proud by winning the bronze medal in the 1982 Asian Games held at Delhi in the Marathon event. Seetharam has distinguished himself as a very good long distance runner and has represented the country in different meets and also won top honors in the national level.

2. Somashekar S: An Officer in the Southern Railways, Mysore, Somashekar , during his heydays in 1985 was the fastest man in the country. He represented the country in the 1985 SAF games held at Bangladesh and won the Silver Medal in 100 m.
  In 1984, National games held at Delhi, Somashekar won the Bronze in the 100 m.
He also won the silver medal in the National games held at Trivandrum in 1989 in the 100 m.
  Presently, Somashekar is actively involved in promoting the sport and is one of the Vice-Presidents of the District Amateur Athletic Association.

3. Shyla E B: A Athlete of repute who during the time of P.T.Usha earned the distinction of emerging as the fastest woman in the country. Shyla, an officer at FCI, Bangalore represented the country in the Asian games in the 4x100 m relay event. She won medals in the SAF games and in the circuit meets represented the country.

4. Reeth Abraham: An outstanding Athlete in the Long Jump, and Hepthalon events. Presently working with Corporation Bank as an Sports officer and is based in Bangalore. Reeth Abraham hailing from a sporting family, represented the country in the Asian Games, Asian Track and Field games at Jakarta and won a silver medal in the long Jump event in the SAF games. A national record holder in hepthalon and long jump, Reeth Abraham is still actively involved in promoting the sport along with her husband and former international Sunil Abraham in Bangalore.

5. Sridevi: An international athlete who has represented our country in the Asian games in the relay events. At present working in  LIC,Mysore. Sridevi has represented the state in the Nationals and has made her mark in the 100,200m events.

6. Nagendra Prasad: An outstanding High Jumper from our city who has won the gold in the SAF Games and also the National Games High Jump gold. Employed with LIC, Nagendra Prasad represented India in the Asian level and has gone one to bring laurels with his feats.

7. Uma Devi: Represented India in 1982 Asian Games in 1500m. National Medallist in 1500m. Presently employed in Central Excise Department, Mysore.
