|  | Mysore University to start Zonal coaching centres | Mysore, Aug:3: The Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore from the year 2010-11 will conduct coaching camps for University students in five zones to promote the standard and to enhance the performance of sportspersons in different sports and games.
Nodal centres will be started in five zones in which the coaching camps will be conducted for the benefit of sportspersons. In Chamundi Zone (5 Nodal centres), Malnad Zone (7 Nodal centres), Mandavya Zone (6 Nodal centres), Krishnaraja Zone (2 Nodal centres) and Chamaraja Zone (five Nodal centres).
The Department of Physical Education will conduct training programme in each nodal centre with special emphasis on two popular games in each centre. Training programmes will be held in different colleges with the available infrastructure.
The Mysore University will assist the programme with a special grant of Rs.6,00,000/- this year. This decision was taken in the Mysore University Sports Advisory Committee meeting under the Chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor, R.G.Talwar at the University Pavilion hall on Monday. This was the result of the report submitted by the Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore after conducting a Workshop for Physical Education Teachers of Mysore University for Enhancing the standard of sports performance among students. It was also decided to enhance the TA/DA for sportsperson representing Mysore University from Rs.120/- to Rs.140/- from this year. In order to maintain the University grounds, it was sanctioned to appoint five groundsmen permanently and another four on study and earn basis.
